I’ve done a lot of research on the benefits of Whole Body Vibration Massage and its benefits, and if the research is true, I need to start vibrating regularly, actually daily and quickly too! Apparently vibration assists in weight loss! Imagine your whole body vibrating and you enjoying the relaxation and satisfaction of knowing that this is actually assisting in you losing that Christmas (and Easter and birthday) fat! Ultimately you have to be on a ‘diet’ for WBVM to assist with weight loss - sorry to dull the mood!!
Let's start at the beginning. How does WBVM actually work? Well, that's easy. It's a combination of 3 key things - creating movement, reactions and gravity - we all know what gravity does to us as we get older, everything tends to head south! In a nutshell Whole Body Vibration Massage can be undertaken by sitting, standing, exercising or lying down. The theory is - bare with me - the vibration transmits energy and signals into your body’s tendons, tissues and muscles forcing them to contract and then relax dozens and dozens of times every second. Over time, this will improve muscle strength, balance and coordination. And one of the best benefits of WBVM is that it can help improve everyone's lives; physically disabled people, abled body people, older aged people, whether it be to help health issues or just because you want too!
There are so many benefits of WBVM. Think of how much pleasure you get when you head down to get a back massage, or a shoulder and neck massage, imagine how much pleasure you would get if the whole of your body was being massaged simultaneously. I’m going to outline some key benefits and you can see what you think!
The ultimate benefit to any type of massage is that feeling of calmness and deep, deep relaxation - oh the bliss! Endorphins are hormones that produce a feeling of well being and massage prompts the release of such hormones giving one that heaven like the sensation of relaxation.
As I mentioned earlier vibration can help to accelerate weight loss along with a strict diet. The vibration increases your metabolism to help burn fat, whilst strengthening muscles to tone and tighten.
Cortisol is the hormone that is released when you are stressed and high levels of the hormone can see you gain weight, suffer from headaches and even depression. Research proves that vibration can help control this by controlling how much hormone is released. So to sum it up, the more stressed you are the more vibration is needed!
Vibration eases back and neck pain. How do you ask? Vibration triggers tissue stimulation, improves muscle tone and increases blood supply, it also your muscles to contract and then relax which eases pain.
Do you find yourself less flexible these days? I know the older I get, the older I feel and yes I can’t do the things I used too ( so many things I still wish I could do!) Vibration can help with balance and improve flexibility. The back and forward motion of the vibration lengthens and stretches the muscles which offers in return enhanced fluid joints and better reach.
There are so many more ways that Whole Body Vibration Massage can assist with such as:
- Improving metabolism
- Increasing circulation and immunity
- Reducing pain associated with arthritis, osteoporosis, fibromyalgia
- Increasing Bone Density
- Enhancing Results in Less Time
- Explosive Strength in Athletes, just to name a few.
Vibration machines in general seem to be the new ‘in’ thing and come in different sizes. You can use one at the gym, you can buy them from the shops and you can experience a whole-body massage from just lying in a vibrating bed! Would I buy one? I already did!!!
